Overview

The HPE 5900 Series Switches are a range of top-of-rack (ToR) switches with high density and ultra-low latency, ideal for deployment at the server access layer of large enterprise data centers. These switches may also be used in the campus core/distribution layer, which requires a higher performance 40GbE connection with 10GbE links. As virtualized applications and server-to-server traffic increase, customers need ToR switches to meet their needs for higher performance server connectivity, convergence, virtual environment support, and low latency. An optional Intelligent Management Center (IMC) software platform for network management.

Features

Transceiver and Optical Cabling Solutions for HP 5900AF Switch

As mentioned above, the HP 5900 switch has fixed SFP, SFP+ ports and QSFP+ ports. Therefore, we need to use SFP, SFP+ and QSFP+ high-speed cables and transceivers and associated fiber jumpers to connect the switches in the IRF configuration. These optical devices are also needed when we need to connect switches in IRF configurations on different racks to build a ToR network. It should be noted that if the distance between the two switches is long, it is better to use a combination of optical modules and fiber jumpers.
