My client currently is using 2x 2498-24E connected to servers using MM connections and SFPs. They want to move servers farther away(more than 1 KM). So the MM cable is no use. I am proposing to change their SFPs to Single Mode only. Is that possible and can you help me with this and the requirements? The switch has to be Extended Fabric. Is that a license or spec. to work with Single Mode SFP? Because they have 2498-24E and I am not sure if they are Extended Fabric or not. How can I find out? They have 10 Servers so they need at least 20 SFPs. Do I have to change their Qlogic cards installed on servers too? They are currently working with MM.
