QuestionsCategory: Optical TransceiverOPT05-3120XXXR DC series of transceivers
Marcos asked 9 years ago

We are developing a special purpose automation device/system that requires the transmission of a DC signal (ON/OFF) over a long distance link (aprox. 5 Km). We must use the already installed 9/125um, 1310nm Optical Fiber infrastructure, so our task is to procure suitable RX/TX modules to suit our very particular application.

We found the OPT05-3120XXXR series of transceivers. Although not explicitly mentioned in the data sheet we are understanding that such devices can handle continuous transmission of a logical state (1 or 0). Could you please confirm that?

Alternatively, we are considering to use the SFF module OSF155-3140NCR. Would it be suitable for of a logical state?

Thanks for your mail. We can provide this special low data rate 1*9 transceivers, this part support continuous transmission of a logical state (1 or 0) in your application. However OSF155-3140NCR can not support this application.

Thank you for the info and quotation. We will try a different approach and evaluate the use of the OSF155-3140NCR in a classic configuration.
