We recently purchased new SFP for our HP existing switches switches. Can i use the same transceiver to connect with the SFP port on the Cisco 2960 switch ?

I am sure of that it won’t works with Cisco Switch, because the HP SFP transceiver is coded for there specific platform, while the Cisco switch locked the third party SFPs that is uncoded. So you need buy orginal one or coded SFP that is for Cisco, then it works.

Wrong, here is a discussion in Cisco Forums for this issue (For the reference of others). Although there will be limitation in terms of warranty it should still work.
