QuestionsCategory: Optical TransceiverTechnical support on 10M 1×9 BiDi transceivers

We have been using the OTB10-53103STR and OTB10-35103STR 1*9 transceiver in a new development system that we’ve been working on. So far we really have been happy with their performance. I’m writing to you to ask a few questions in hopes of solving a problem that we have been having.

In our system, we see no issues with the 1310nm communications but have intermittent issues with the 1510nm. We believe we’ve narrowed this down to some sharp bends in the fiber optic cable (Hence why the 1310 nm is unaffected). However, we are at a point in the design where we can’t change the hardware easily and are exploring other options to increase the reliability of the marginal 1510nm communications.

Due to physical constraints, we need to keep the 35103STR at one end, but we are open to swapping modules out for the 53103STR (the one that transmits 1510nm) for a module with a higher output power number. As long as it will maintain compatibility with the 35103STR at the other end.

  1. Do you have any other modules we could use that output higher power at 1510nm?
  2. Currently, we are using the 3.3 Volt part, does the 5 Volt part have any additional power output at 1510 nm?
  3. Do you have any other suggestions for increasing our link budget at 1510nm?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
