As the smallest size 100G transceiver, the QSFP28 meets the rapidly growing demand of corporate data centers and cloud computing. It has already gradually replaced the 40G QSFP module since it has the same physical size but achieves 2.5-factor traffic throughput. In this article, we will introduce the Optcore 100G QSFP28 transceiver solution and its main features in detail.

Optcore 100G QSFP28 Transceiver Solution
100G QSFP28 transceiver, also called 100G QSFP optics, is a hot-swappable high speed optical transceiver module used for 100G Ethernet and Optical Transport Network (OTN) applications.
As a pioneer in innovative optical connectivity and solution, Optcore now provides a wide range of 100G QSFP28 transceiver module to connect AI systems to top-of-rack (TOR) switches, leaf-spine, and spine-super spine switches for data centers and service providers. The 100G QSFP28 transceiver solutions from Optcore include SR4, LR4, IR4, ER4, ZR4, PSM4, CWDM4 and BiDi.
We also provide a comprehensive line of regular fiber patch cables and pre-terminated high-density MPO/MTP cable as an accessory to the 100G transceiver. All the fiber patch cables pass the test of insert loss, return loss, optical end face, and inter-malleability to ensure optimal signal integrity.

FAQs
Q: What makes 100G QSFP28 and 100G QSFP different?
A: In fact, they are identical. 100G QSFP is another name, but former one is the most common name. Some guys still use 100G QSFP to refer to 100G QSFP28.
Q: Is QSFP28 compatible with 100GBASE-SR10?
A: No. The QSFP28 only has four electrical lanes, which is insufficient to offer a 10-lane 10 Gigabit Ethernet interface. A QSFP28 can support only a 4x25G electrical interface; 10x 10GbE is not supported. Because of this, 100GbE transceivers based on SR10 cannot communicate with the it.
Q: Which 100G QSFP28 transceiver supports multimode OM4 cable?
A: Currently, only 100G QSFP28 SR4 and SR BiDi support OM4 cable. The others support only single mode fiber.
Q: What is the modulation format of your 100G QSFP28 transceiver?
A: Most 100G QSFP28 transceivers use NRZ modulation format, but DR1 use PAM4 modulation format.
Q: Do you have any stock of 100G QSFP28 transceiver?
A: Yes. Most of the 100G QSFP28 transceivers from Optcore are in stock. But for some long-distance optics, such as the ZR4 transceiver, it may be on backorder and take a longer time to ship.
Q: What packaging technology is used for 100G QSFP28 transceivers?
A: It depends on the different models. 100G QSFP28 SR4 transceivers from Optcore use either COB (Chip-On-Board), and the others usually adapt hermetical sealed box package to ensure optimal performance.
Q: Can I use 100G QSFP28 ZR4 for a short distance?
A: It is better to use something other than it for a short distance, because ZR4 is designed for long-haul applications. It may damage the receiver and cause overload error data packets; you must add an appropriate attenuator to avoid this.
