Elle fonctionne sur des fibres monomodes (SMF) ou multimodes (MMF), avec une grande longueur d&rsquo;onde de 1270 \u00e0 1355 nanom\u00e8tres (typiquement 1310nm). Contrairement \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres noms n\u00e9cessitant deux fibres, 1000BASE-BX utilise la technologie WDM (multiplexage par r\u00e9partition en longueur d&rsquo;onde) pour permettre une transmission bidirectionnelle (BiDi) sur un seul brin de fibre. Il s&rsquo;agit donc d&rsquo;une solution \u00e9conomique pour les connexions r\u00e9seau ne disposant que d&rsquo;une seule fibre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-6a6f6b50-d045-4d00-bda3-576f6ee3b8bd\">Pour simplifier, on utilise deux longueurs d&rsquo;onde diff\u00e9rentes (1310nm-TX\/1550nm-RX) \u00e0 la fois du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00e9metteur et du c\u00f4t\u00e9 du r\u00e9cepteur, s\u00e9par\u00e9es par un filtre optique WDM. Cette approche innovante permet la transmission simultan\u00e9e des deux longueurs d&rsquo;onde sur la m\u00eame fibre, ce qui permet une utilisation efficace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-5b3dbf6c-9c85-4ca8-93fb-0c35896681d7\">Il est essentiel de se rappeler que les \u00e9metteurs-r\u00e9cepteurs BiDi doivent \u00eatre associ\u00e9s \u00e0 des longueurs d&rsquo;onde appropri\u00e9es. Par exemple, si vous utilisez 1310nm-TX\/1550nm-RX \u00e0 une extr\u00e9mit\u00e9, vous devez utiliser 1550nm-TX\/1310nm-RX \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre extr\u00e9mit\u00e9. Il utilise une longueur d&rsquo;onde de 1550 nm sur une fibre monomode. Les fournisseurs d&rsquo;\u00e9metteurs-r\u00e9cepteurs proposent souvent des versions de 80 km pour remplacer la norme 1000BASE-ZX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-27f0e2eb-f01a-4d6c-8c4c-21deee58ba8f\">Certains fabricants proposent une distance de 120 kilom\u00e8tres (75 miles) en fibre monomode, d\u00e9finie comme 1000BASE-EZX ou 1000BASE-ZX120.
